Have you ever let your children paint your windows? Then of course also encourage them to be the ones to clean the windows! Join us for a super fun winter village window painting. Make it and erase it or enjoy it for a little bit of time.
Window Painting
The best part about windows is they are super easy to clean! Very similar to a plexiglass easel, a window wipes up nicely! Think of all the possibilities. Whenever we break out window painting, there are obviously some ground rules. The biggest rule is: we only paint the windows! This is a fairly simple rule for my school age children, harder for my toddler.
We have actually done this a lot in the summer and I give them more free range. They can paint whatever designs they want and if the washable paint gets all over the outside, I can hose it down. When we do this activity indoors, there is a little more oversight to ensure we are staying within the window.
How to Create a Winter Village
Previously, we have always just gone freehand and painted whatever we want onto the windows. This time though, we decided to create a winter village. We chose to design some winter houses and scenes. So to start, we took out some white paper and just freehanded some ideas of things we would want in our little village.
Once we were happy with the design of our village, we placed the papers on the outside of the window and then traced them from the inside.
Supplies
Supplies are likely going to depend on the age of your children and your comfort level of paint in a less controlled environment.
Truthfully, the washable paint is much more visible but obviously more messy. The window markers on the other hand are simple and more contained.
