Kids Crafts, Sensory Play, Science, and More
As probably everyone knows, October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. For us this year, during the month of October we had family actively undergoing a breast cancer diagnosis and treatment. For my children, the unknown of everything caused some stress. In order to help deal with the stress, we leaned into learning about Breast Cancer and exploring some of it through play. As always our favorite way to play and learn is a sensory bin, this time for breast cancer awareness
This week, we set up a Fall sensory bin. Honestly, you will learn pretty quickly that around here sensory bins are a fan favorite. We enjoy all aspects of the sensory bin; simply playing with the textures in the bin to scooping and sorting. The sensory bin fuels all kinds of creative thinking. Sometimes our sensory bin becomes a store, other times it is a construction site, you never know what the kiddos little minds will think of when you set it up!
As for me, I enjoy setting up the sensory bins and thinking of different ways to theme them. For example, this particular fall sensory bin is just one version of the various ways we could incorporate fall into the theme. This week we created simple and fun sensory play with candy corn. Unfortunately, if you saw my last post about how to make geodesic domes, you are aware they they were not very successful. You can read it here if you would like. So we quickly pivoted and changed our plans and dumped the candy corn into our sensory bin and started to play that way.
