As we talked about in our last post, we love to reuse and recycle things to the best of our ability in our house. So today, on a whim, I noticed we had a couple of paper towel rolls laying around. Instead of throwing them in the recycling bin, I asked my toddler and preschooler if they wanted to do a paper towel roll craft? To start, they were skeptical but quickly it turned into something fun!
This year for Valentine’s Day, my children really wanted to do something different than just a card. We talked about different crafts and thought through some ideas. In the end, my children really needed to have a fresh restock of their craft supplies (especially crayons) so we decided to make use of their old, broken crayons! In the end, we decided on some heart shaped crayons as Valentines this year.
Process Art is such a fun way to create art because the end result is not necessarily the goal of the art. Instead, the goal of process art is that the act of making the art is more relevant. So for toddlers and preschoolers this is such a fun way to created art. They do not need to feel the pressure to make something beautiful but instead to enjoy making art and crafts.
Today for our process art, we decided to paint with spaghetti! We made our own paintbrushes, we talked about what it might be like to paint with spaghetti. And of course my children wanted to experiment with spaghetti paintbrushes (spoiler: cooked or uncooked).
