Well Mother Nature decided to tease us with a preview of spring before quickly pulling back and throwing more snow at us. With the idea of spring on its way, we thought it would be fun to make some spring flower crafts! As you know, we love a good process art craft. We decided to make some torn paper flowers.

Process Art
The goal of process art is that the finished product is not as important as the process of making the art. This is such a fun and exciting activity for kids. It is infrequent that the goal of a project is to tear things into tiny pieces but that is just the goal we are going for here! This allows them to ability to tear their paper and shred and make a mess. Little do they know, we are also working on their fine motor skills at the same time. We absolutely love process art around here and this was truly a favorite for my kids! We will likely be doing this more frequently with different prompts (not just flowers)!

Supplies
How to Make Torn Paper Flowers
- Start out with a piece of paper.
- Draw an outline of the design you would like to make (we chose spring flowers).
- Pick out the colors you would like to fill your design with.
- Tear your construction paper into tiny pieces.
- Fill your design with some glue.
- Paste the torn pieces into the spaces to fill it with color.
- Allow to dry and enjoy your masterpiece!
Alternate Torn Paper Flower
If you have some older children who may not want to make a torn flower with tiny pieces, you can challenge them to create a flower by tearing the paper into the shapes they want the petals to be. This is another unique way to create a torn paper flower but also much more challenging. This requires more fine motor skills and patience to tear the paper exactly as you would like it to be displayed on your page.
We challenge you to do some more process art at home as well! Think spaghetti painting or sun leaf prints!
