Come join us for some Penguin Bowling. This is such a fun way to get your kids to burn some energy when the weather isn’t cooperating. We have had some awesome snowy weather so far this winter but unfortunately the next couple of days are predicted to just be bitter cold. We still try to bundle up and get outside but sometimes that just doesn’t last quite as long.
Living for Outside
Honestly, we live for 1000 Hours Outside (if you don’t know about it, check it out). Truthfully, we always start the year logging our hours and typically lose steam on tracking but I can promise we still get outside. I would bet there have been years we have met the goal, years we have exceeded, and probably years we fell slightly short.
On these days where the weather is more bitter, my children do not last for quite as long. I can promise that the effort to get outside is still worth it!!
Penguin Bowling
So the next time you need your kids to burn some energy but are having a harder time getting outside, go bowling. Sure, if you have a bowling kit go ahead and use it. If you do not, this is such a simple way to get them moving. We just use some plastic water bottles, we actually have been using these same ten water bottles for about 2 years now. We tend to use reusable water bottles regularly but we had these left over from having people over and started using them. To start we used them plain but more recently, we have started to decorate them for the seasons. This adds to the time the activity takes!!
