After some fun play in the snow, my children came in ready for some warmer indoor fun today! We decided it would be fun the snuggle up in a snow fort! Bring the outside in and create a cozy place to warm back up.
Making a Snow Fort
Making a snow fort is such a simple task and idea. Granted, we do have some play couches which makes it much easier. My kiddos decided that it would be fun to create their own individual tents where they could bring in some blankets to warm up. They even set up a campfire. You could create a fort of your own in any way! Bring back the old kitchen chairs with blankets!
We personally have two Nugget Couches and a Chunk. We have had the Couches for years now and just got the Chunk this year. I feel that our Couches have gotten a lot of use of the years. We have truly used them just to climb and get out our sensory needs when we need physical movement in a smaller space. But more frequently, we use them creatively. They become a store, a house, or horses to ride. We have even used them outside on days that it is dry out.
Making it Snow
As you can see in the photo, in order to turn this into a snow fort we created our own snow. We started by making snow flakes. We made ours out of coffee filters. The fun part about this is that they actually just kind of stick to the play couch. Harder to see in the photo is that we broke out the cotton balls and allowed the cotton balls to rain down like snow flakes!
Can You Guess What Came Next?
I bet you can only imagine the next thing that my children wanted to do? Build up some hideouts and have a snowball fight! Truly, I need to buy some more cotton balls so that they can all have a ton to have a massive snow ball fight at home! I also have debated having some fun with a marshmallow snowball fight – I would need to make sure we collect them all afterwards though!
